Elvis is in the building folks!

Led by the country’s female Prime Minister, Rose Christiane Raponda, #Gabon's government has added a standalone Ministry of Mines, with Honorable Minister Elvis Ossindji, the former CEO of the Gabon Mining Company, named as minister.

Genmin welcomes Minister Ossindji’s appointment and the formation of a new ministry dedicated solely to mining, which previously was included as part of the oil and gas portfolio. This new focus will support Gabon’s diversification away from oil and gas and help tap the potential of the country’s very rich iron ore endowment and other minerals.

On his appointment, Minister Ossindji said: "We must accelerate, because the mining sector is indeed one of the strategic links in the Gabonese economy”
